Forgiveness must be immediate, whether or not a person asks for it. Trust must be rebuilt over time. Trust requires a track record. If someone hurts you repeatedly, you are commanded by God to forgive them instantly, but you are not expected to trust them immediately, and you are not expected to continue allowing them to hurt you. Holding a grudge doesn’t make you strong; It make you bitter. Forgiving doesn’t make you weak; It sets you free. Bitterness is believing God got it wrong, Worry is not believing God will get it right, And unforgiveness is believing you are right even after God says you’re wrong. Forgiveness is the best form of Love. It takes a strong person to say sorry and an even stronger person to forgive. We might temporarily impress people by being fake, But we can permanently impact people by being real. To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you. Forgiveness does not change the past but it does enlarge the future. The most important lesson on the road to spiritual maturity is how to truly forgive. No one likes to be held in their history, especially people trying to make themselves better.
